Well... First the good news. This weekend is going to be really nice and should dry out the track.
The bad news is that we have to cancel races tonight. There are still some large standing pools in the first stretch and rhythm section of the track. Also people have been riding and walking on the track so it is in dire need of being dragged before we could really race safely on it.
So... The plan is to go Sunday (Probably afternoon??) and work on the track... I will bring my 4 wheeler and several others have offered to come and work the shovels and rakes. We could always use more help if you are interested. E-mail me or call 581-3962 Saturday eve or Sunday morning and I will give you the schedule.

Well this is getting a bit old!
Went down to the track at lunch and there was still standing water between a lot of the obstacles. Regretfully we will have to cancel races today again.
This weekend we plan to do some work to the track to get it fixed up after all the activity it has received in less then desirable conditions. If anybody is interested in helping let me know. We will probably be down there Saturday eve or Sunday whichever works out best.
Don't forget about the bike fair at the hospital this Saturday. I went to the one at Emily Dickenson last weekend and the kids had fun... And got some pretty cool 661 helmets for free!
Also we were asked by the Gallatin Valley motocrossers if we wanted to help out with their big race in 4 corners this weekend. I am committed to other things and can not go. If anybody is interested let me know and I will get you their info.
Thanks,
Steve

GVBMX'rs
Just a few notes for everybody.
First... If you read the article in the Chronicle (http://dailychronicle.com/articles/2008/04/30/news/40station.txt) the other day you know that our park is one of the sites the city is looking at for the new police station. I talked to the Mark Tymrak and he assured me that IF our park is the one they select that we will get a bigger better place to have our track. Also, this will not effect this years racing season. We will be staying in contact with the city and the process to make sure there is money set aside to help us rebuild if that is what ends up happening.
Second... Monday night I went down and dragged the track. It is looking OK (much better) and I plan to do it again this weekend if weather cooperates. (I will also mention that Bill was there picking up all the winter trash... GROSS! My job was better.) We are also trying to get a roller to roll the track smooth. Please if you are down there riding spend a few minutes picking up rocks. Also you will notice that we spread a bunch of grass seed in the area around and behind the bleachers. Thanks to Ag Depot and John Terry for getting the seed and Derik and Bill for organizing and spreading the seed. Please do your best to avoid stomping on the new seed.
Third... RACING! Well we really had wanted to start racing last Saturday but that did not happen because of snow. This weekend is not a scheduled weekend race and is supposed to rain anyway. Weather dependant we plan to start racing next week on Tuesday and start the regular Tuesday Thursday schedule with 5:30 to 6:30 registration. We are going to do our best to get the moto sheets out as fast as possible while school is still in session. PLEASE if you need to fill out paperwork come a little early... As in... do not show up at 6:27 and start filling out paperwork. We have a lot of young kids who have school and we really want to get things moving the first month of the season.
Don’t forget that you can buy your season pass... Prices are $100 for one racer/class, $175 for 2, $250 for 3 and $300 for a family (unlimited) membership. Please call if you have questions. (Otherwise races are $5 per race)
And last... We are a volunteer organization and would appreciate any help people want to offer. We could use some people in the moto shed helping register and people to help with all the things around the track. Please call me at 581-3962 if you have interest in helping out.
Also we plan to be at the track this weekend working... As always weather dependant! And could always use help. The plan is to do some cleaning up on Saturday afternoon and Sunday we are going to try and set up the gate and test everything out. Please feel free to call me if you want to help out (and get a few gates in!) I will let you know more about the times we will be there!
Cheers... And lets hope for some nice weather!
Steve

***Jansen Pro Clinics***
Professional BMX'er, Chad Jansen, is holding training clinics at GVBMX throughout the summer!
Date: August 18th, 2007
Time: 9:30a.m. drop off and registration, Clinic 10a.m. - 2p.m.
Cost: $35
Talk about a steal of a deal - these clinics include training, tons of track time, lunch, snacks, drinks and oh yeah - training with a pro!
You will have the opportunity to:
*Build Confidence
*Break Bad Habits
*Learn New Racing Strategies
*Strengthen & Refine Riding Techniques
Be sure to take a breather after honing up your skills because you had better come back to apply what you've learned and tear it up in the race that night.
Later in the day, GVBMX will be holding our normally scheduled Saturday evening race. Racing while your training is still fresh is very advantageous!
To register, contact Chad Jansen at 406-570-2237 or sign up at the track.
***Private Coaching Sessions***
$20/hr with a 2 hour minimum and can be scheduled directly through Chad!
